New dating app launching in london – My Mate Your Date
My Mate Your Date
The majority of my clients ask me for recommendations about the best dating sites and apps to use. I know quite a lot about the big dating sites, having used them back in the day when I was looking for love online and through the good working relationships I have with them now but I don’t know as much about the new apps appearing on the scene. I’m gradually educating myself though so that I can keep my clients up to speed. So this week, we have the spotlight on brand new app, My Mate Your Date.
My Mate Your Date connects singles who have friends in common. By prioritising ‘social proximity’ over geographic proximity, connections are likely to be more genuine than random Tinder-like encounters. In real life, 63% of couples met through friends and My Mate Your Date is bringing this social dynamic to the online dating realm. According to Dan Joyce, the CEO:
The surest way to meet someone you’ll click with is through your mates. In real life almost half of all couples meet directly through friends but typically you have to wait for your mate’s party on the weekend, or a wedding, to meet your friends’ friends. We’ve brought the house party online and use sophisticated technology to make it simple to meet your next great date.”
In addition to looking for matches within your social circles, My Mate Your Date considers factors that are important to singles looking for genuine connections, such as education, profession, likes and groups, astrology, all gathered from users’ Facebook profiles.
How does it work?
At 5pm each day My Mate Your Date carefully selects and suggests a handful of potential matches for you to browse through. You can ask your mutual friend whether a potential match is a catch prior to making up your mind, or secretly express interest, or even send an icebreaker (cupcake? cocktail?) to ensure you get noticed. If the feeling is mutual an introduction will be made so the couple can chat on-site.
