For cocktail lovers
For cocktail lovers, there’s plenty of choice – try The Botanist for an impressive, eclectic menu with plenty of alcohol free options. We also love Aluna which has decor inspired by the Harry Potter books and more cocktails on offer than you can stake a wizard’s stick at. If gin’s your thing, you can’t go wrong with 40 St Paul’s but make sure you book ahead.
For less chat, more cuddly dates
If you’re ok with not spending too much time talking to your date – maybe you’re a few dates in now and have got to know each other a little bit – there are some great options for cinema and comedy dates in Birmingham. Electric cinema is the UK’s oldest working cinema and shows a mixture of the latest mainstream, independent and classic films. With comfy sofas, a bar and waiter service it’s great for cosying up before enjoying a movie with your date. Located within the Custard Factory, Mockingbird has a great, funky look and a tasty food and drinks menu, making it an all round great date destination. For comedy, head to Glee Club or Comedy Loft – but don’t sit at the front where you risk getting picked on by the comedian and becoming part of the act – not great for romance!
For daytime dates
For daytime dates, take a stroll along the canalside and have a drink at one of the many bars and cafes in the Mailbox and Brindleyplace areas. There are plenty of venues with beer gardens and roof terraces – a couple of our favourites are The Malthouse and The Flapper. A great option for a warm sunny day is a trip to The Botanical Gardens, or how about a wander round one of Birmingham’s many markets such as The Rag Market?

For quirky dates
What if you are looking for something a bit different, unusual – daring, even, to impress your date? Here are a few more adventurous ideas for those who have been there and done it all. For a quirky date, check out the Peaky Blinders tour. Inspired by the popular TV series, the tour will take you through the crime-ridden streets and gangland warfare of Birmingham’s dark past in the 1800s. Ever been on a pinball date? No, we didn’t think so. We love Tilt, an independent coffee, craft beer and pinball bar based in the city centre. Take your date climbing, snowboarding, canoeing or a multitude of other outdoor activities at Ackers Adventure centre. Head to cookery school at Loaf, in the heart of Stirchley’s creative community. Baking, seafood and butchery masterclasses are just some of the courses on offer, so there’s going to be no excuse not to be able to rustle up some tasty treats after this…
Have we inspired you? Ready for some top dates in Birmingham? Now you just need to get yourself a hot date lined up so you can try out some of these ideas. Book a Hey Saturday shoot in Birmingham so we can help you stand out online and win more dates.
